cafe may story

hey babeees,
thanks to the dudeness and generosity of our man yawd (of wayneomaha fame), myself and many others were introduced to the little west end sweet spot called the cafe may. for 25 years+ its been a slice of homestyle heaven nestled right beside the Revue Theatre on Roncesvalles. a beautiful old place with chalet style wood, cozy booths, homemade stained glass, quality nibbles and sips, and out-of-this-world hospitality. Perfect for acoustic or small ensemble acts. Keiko, the vintage japanese woman who runs the place, had been pretty much closed for a while due to a nasty spill down the stairs and a hit and run accident which left her with a broken arm and jaw. as she's been slow to mend, so it seemed like a good idea to put the community to work fixing it up and getting a crowd out. Keiko is the salt of the earth, has her heart in the right place and a soft spot for us artistic musician types. she is a very proud and generous woman who just cant heave the kegs like she used to and needs some help making the rent.

this is (was) volunteer work on my part, and a community effort on yours. local goodness at its best
, lots of help was needed, suggestions were welcomed. thanks for the memories.

keiko for prime minister!
